Insomnia is a bitch. And this bitch is after me for quite sometime now. It’s a cascading effect you know. One day you stay up late watching some episode and sleep late. The next day you wake up a bit late, then again that night you sleep late and so the vicious cycle continues.

At this point of time, I am pretty unsatisfied(not dissatisfied). I have too many cravings which need to be quenched. Having too many things to do at the same time, is not a pretty situation. You are pulled in too many directions at one time.

So, here is some fodder for myself and whoever cares

I really don’t know why, but I’ve not been able to sleep today.  Solved an spoj problem, and that was it. Too wired to sleep I guess. Came across this great video on youtube(which I use heavily to pass time, thanks google ), watch it till atleast the middle. That’s when it starts to get interesting.

Am a sucker for good movies. I love meaningful ones with a distinct storyline. Notice the ‘distinct’ part. This is the reason I’ve started to loathe the recent bollywood movies.

I really really really love comedy movies. I love comedy in general. Be it pranks, tricks etc., What else does one need to be humored?

Borat is one movie I would love everyone to watch. It is the greatest modern time comedy ever. It is actually everything mixed in one. Pranking people live, making them look like idiots, gags etc., It has everything. Go watch some youtube videos of this awesome movie.

Now Sacha Baron Cohen, the lead actor of this movie is well known for fooling people. You must have heard about the Ali-G show. He pranks everyone from ministers to senate members.  A new movie of his, Bruno, similar in plot to Borat was released yesterday. He plays a gay dumb foreign guy and has everyone fooled!

Eageeerly waiting for this movie to come out here in India. Will be going to see it the first day.

Ok, so I’ve recently decided to something about one “nag” I had since the past 4 years. I never attempted to do it seriously. I’ve always wanted to understand the inner workings of the Linux Kernel. I got around to submitting some very trivial patches for compiler warnings, documentation fixes etc., But never stepped into the real deal. I’ve bought books, always wanted to read them. Followed LKML, without ever getting into the depth of it. Tried my hand at a filesystem(tux3.org), submitted some higher level, but still trivial patches.

Now I’ve had enough with the lazyness. I am rolling up my sleeves and getting ready to get dirty. Linus, here I come

My sis recently sent me a link to a cool presentation on TED. It’s called the sixth sense. Really awesome how people are exploring ways to stay connected and to exploit the awesome power of the internet. Have a look at this video. Definitely worth it.

Came across an interesting paper today. What if you could reduce the avg. power usage of your computer from ~200Watts to ~200mWatts when you are not using it? I usually keep my system on for downloading torrents and this is exactly what makes it possible to put everything but the network interfaces in your computer to sleep.

Enter Somniloquy, which means to talk in one’s sleep. The computer is theoretically sleeping but can network and download data. For this they use a modified network card with a low power embedded microprocessor and a data card. This processor takes care of the ongoing downloads when you put it in a semi-sleep state. Once the miniature 2 Gb SD card is filled up, you wake up the computer to copy the data onto the hard disk and put it back to sleep and download.

Well, I lost my first bet today… won four in a row..

I bet on Chennai in their match against Deccan. It was a pretty close call. Thought that deccan should loose sooner or later, even though thats my home team… serves me right i guess..

Anyways here are my stats:

I should be a happy man

Well, I often heard people asking me what my name ‘Pranith’ meant. So here goes. My name was actually spelled as Praneeth. But after a bungling at my school in 10th standard, it came out to be Pranith in my certificate. It stayed that way ever since.

Hmm, coming to the topic, after a bit of researching I found out that it means humble, simple, pleasant. Well, my parents must have wished for that.
